AND HERE IT IS!

It's hard to believe that I'm just 1 month away from launching.

A couple of weeks back, I got my first mock up!

It was littered with typoes but it nevertheless took me four readings to squeeze them out - GOD, I HOPE THEY'RE ALL OUT!

Now, I wait.  Counting the days until April 16!!!!

  2. Paolo,

I just wanted to say that I've read previews of FHL online and I absolutely love your work, I can't wait to get hold of a physical copy and continue the story next month. As such, where would someone from the UK be able to buy your book - will it be available in my local comic shop? Or will it be easier for me to order FHL from an online source?

Either way - I wish you all the best for the coming release,

    James Collinge

  3. Thanks James! I'm afraid that you'll only be able to order this online as they'll only be released in bookstores in the Philippines.

I'll make sure to post updates through this site or, if you prefer, I could email you.

  4. Hey Paolo,

Thanks for the offer, but I imagine you're busy enough right now without taking it upon yourself to send me an email. I'll be sure to keep track of the site so I know where to order it from.

    Best of luck once again,

    James

  5. Thanks, James. Just wondering, are you Filipino at all? And where did you read the pages?

  7. I'm not Filipino, I'm from the United Kingdom and came across your work after looking online for something different to read here:

Out of interest, when FHL is released next month will it be available in both Filipino and English? From the above preview pages I'm assuming that you write in English, but I have to ask because as a literature student translated texts have always been something of a curiosity for me.

  8. A fellow lit-major! :)

It will be just in English. Though I do plan to have it translated eventually but I think my publisher is being cautious first - the graphic novel fans are mostly english speakers here.

I wish I could write in Filipino - I feel that the characters would feel more naturally Pinoy if I did. But I just don't have the same ability in Tagalog as I do in English - oh well.

I asked about your background because I didn't think that this story would appeal to anyone abroad who doesn't have a Filipino background. I'm pleased that you can still enjoy it despite its very Filipino focus.

  9. The Filipino focus is definitely present and gives the book a unique feel (which is what drew me in in the first place) but as someone distant from that culture it by no means felt alienating if that was your concern. The set-up of the first few pages gave me just enough background context to get pulled in to the world of FHL without ever once finding myself lost or pulled out of the ongoing narrative, at the end of the day, tightly-written and well-drawn comics are going to appeal universally.
